Yulia Galperina-Radu grew up in Dubna, the birthplace of the chemical element 105 Dubnium. Before moving to the USA she earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Informatics from Moscow Institute of Economics and Statistics, Russia.  After receiving her MA in Linguistics at the University of Washington, Seattle in 2009 she entered the PhD program at the same university, where she is currently pursuing her doctorate in Linguistics.  Yulia’s main research interests involve formal syntactic theory and information structure of language.  During the 2009-2010 academic year Yulia was awarded a Federal Language and Area Studies Fellowship and spent the year studying Finnish language and Scandinavian culture.
